A White Christmas Tree....that was green....that I've now turned black

Any suggestions on how to take an artifical pre-lit green Christmas tree from green to white? I've gave upon taking it white...it turned lime green...so I turned it black, and it is Great.

In Indiana where I'm from they called it flocking, florist's & painter's would do the job but I don't know about a tree with the light's on it, sorry, but you can call your florist's shops and see if they know or local painters, just a hint you might try !!

I am from Ohio, so I know of flocking. However, I am referring to a green artirfical tree. Do you think it can be spray painted?

I don't know since there's lights on it, can the lights be removed, if can then I'd use a paint sprayer, if not don't think so, sorry, you don't want your lights white or whatever color your wanting to paint it, no help, sorry !

You can definitely find a way to remove the lights and it would be a lot easier to change the color. Just ask someone who knows about paint so you can use something that is easier to remove just in case you change your mind in the next Christmas :)

I've seen artificial prelit trees that have been flocked, so I'm sure it can be done.

I have seen many paint their trees white this year. Since you want the cords to be white also I would simply tape off the actual lights and use spray paint, a kind that coats well. here is one link of someone who has done it http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20101122170326AAFvJPJ

Everyone, THANKS. I'm about half way there, U started by spraying it, which worked. The other night I got an idea to use wall paint, followed by a blower. So at 11:30pm, I took a paint roller to my Christmas tree then staked it in the ground and used my leaf blower on. This ensured branches/leaves did not stick together. IT WORKED.

Well, things have changed. After 4 cans of white spray paint and the top portion is now only LIME GREEN, I settled on a different and even more unique route. I'm making it BLACK. Yep, a black Christmas tree! I will add pics once decortated. It is beautiful.

Why was black the final decision, how about just painting the tips white with the rest black, then are your lights going to be white or colored, liking your idea can't wait to see it !!!

My girlfriend 20 years ago use to spray her real tree black! White lights and silver balls it was beautiful. Enjoy your tree would be great for Halloween too!!1

Darn! I had a pre-lit white Christmas tree that was yellowing in places; wanted to re-paint the dull spots to brighten it up. Home Depot folks told me that it would be best NOT to spray paint a tree, even with those specialized for plastics, as nearly all of the spray paints were liable to ignite once the lights were engaged. That advice heeded, I donated the tree to Goodwill. Bummer!

I think the black Christmas tree is missing the point entirely. Christmas is about light and love and peace on earth. The black reminds me of all the negative stuff, like war and depression and such. Cheer up folks, Jesus came to save us and He is the reason for the season.

I'd say it is time to buy a new tree. Painted trees, done by non-professionals, are dangerous! They have beautiful trees out there this year! It would be a great investment for you.

My favourite color is black so I really live the black tree if decorated with lots of lights and white and silver tones it's absolutely stunning ...Not depressing at all. Very elegant ! But that's my thoughts!

They can be very pretty in certain with Décor, with lights and silver and silver ornaments. There was another on Hometalk yesterday I saw all lit up and was beautiful!!
