Sand dollar Christmas decorations

I'm looking for some kind of Christmas decorations to make with some sand dollars, that my cousin sent from the beach. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks!

My Mom had some and she added a red bow at the top and attached a ornament hanger to the bow and hung them on her tree like that. It let the beauty of the white sand dollars show on their own. Later she also added some narrow gold ribbon to the red bows. I still have some of them for my tree!

What Nancy just said. I mod-podged over them first to seal them and make them a little stronger, and because frankly, they didn't smell good. Then tied pretty red ribbons to hang them. I've gotten many compliments on their simple beauty.

We do a coastal California tree every year (slightly tweaked from year to year) and I always hang sand dollars on the tree!

Saw a beautiful door wreath made out of them when I lived on the Gulf. They used sand dollars and red ribbon on greenery.

I just recently discovered that glitter fingernail polish works great for some craft projects, and this sounds like a great one to try. Buy the cheap glitter polish, and the applicator is already in the bottle. It comes in many colors, and one or two coats will give lots of sparkle. Best wishes 😇💞

I have purchased several over the years dressed as angels and as Marty said with pearls for the head. Also one had the year painted in small numbers in the corner. How about beach scenes, the name of the place you found it, fish, or some ocean creature that reminds you of where the sand dollars come from.

I have bought some made as angels with pearl for head...very cute. Small hole was carefully drilled in sand dollar then strung with ribbon or silver/gold thread for hanging.

Also, you could paint on name of place and year you found sand dollar; beach scene; fish or other marine life that reminds you of the beach/water. Names of friends or family members. New babies: name and yr. of birth. Dozens of options.

One year I bleached them, then painted them with liquid white shoes polish-now would use what water based gloss paint-hung red ribbons through the largest hole, tied fancy bows, and did the entire tree in those, with white lights. It was gorgeous.

Can they be used as decorations outdoors? I moved to Florida and want to make a beachy Christmas display but I am afraid the humidity will ruin them.
