I would like to have a paper towel holder that sits on the counter. I would like to use something different or “out of the box.”

You could use a tall narrow candlestick, the frame of a rotating globe, a narrow lamp base, a large vase to put the paper towel inside... just to put a few ideas out there.
Hi ! You can make a wood base and go to the plumbing dept. And get a flange , a piece of pipe , black , grey , or copper ( or spray paint it any color ) and a pipe cap.
