Check out 1001pallets.com, the site will teach you all kinds of things about pallets. Having a long handled pry bar is really helpful. Good luck and have fun!
I used a nail puller and a hammer. I would tap the nail puller under the board I was removing . Then when I had a little space, I hammered the board down and got under the nail with the nail puller.
We have a surplus of pallets available here so we don't need to save every board - I turn this chore over to my partner with anger issues and he makes short work of the demo!
