Beadboard or drywall on living room ceiling ?

My living room ceiling has "old"acoustic tile. Not only i it ugly, but it is really starting to sag, with a few falling out. I want to put up beadboard, but not sure if it will stay up without sagging. Drywall is the only other option I have at this point, and taping is such a hassle and it has no character. The studs are on 16" centers. Any suggestions on which way to go ?

I have 2 rooms clad in bead board, ceiling included. It’s a very dark and dreary rooms.
I like the look of bead board.
I would take them down, sounds like they're fall off anyway. How is the sheetrock under them? Maybe you'll just have to do some minor patches.
I think white bead board would look beautiful.
The tiles would need to come off before doing anything to the ceiling.
