Congratulations!! Mod Podge can work fine as a sealer for acrylic paint.
If you haven't painted it already then first seal the box with a sealant, then paint it. Once your done you can seal the box with a sealant in either matte, semi matte, or gloss as you prefer. You can purchase these inexpensively at the craft store where they sell acyrclic paints. This is what folk art/ tole painters do when they are creating a piece. i haven't used Mod Podge, but from what I've read it seems you can use it on anything!
Good luck and congratulations.
Mod Podge can be used on almost everything. I would read the label carefully & maybe test a small potion on the inside just to be safe!
Congratulations! And yes, follow Francesca's suggestions. ☺
Oh and where are you finding hatboxes? I used to get them at T J Maxx, Homegoods and Nordstrom Rack for great prices but no more and I have a ton of hats still needing boxes!
Absolutely. Mod Podge works great for sealing any kind of paint, on pretty much any surface.
