Sure! Just make sure you choose wallpaper that is manufactured for humidity. The "Bathroom Book", we call it. Follow the directions and it shouldn't peel once applied.
Absolutely! I've got vinyl wallpaper in bathroom that looks like plaster walls (has texture) in neutral tones. It's been up for at least 14 yrs. and still looks wonderful, even on the wall space above the tub tile. As stated above by Jan, I chose paper specifically good for bathrooms.
Wallpaper in bathrooms is very stylish right now. I've wanted to put it up in our half bath, too. But I'm lousy at hanging wallpaper!
My mother has wallpaper in her powder room and it looks great! I would be more careful about a full bathroom though due to humidity, as mentioned above.
