Try putting a small spot to test it and see if it harms it. That is the best way to know if it will harm the old cork. I don't think it will, but why take a chance by not testing it.
Thank you, Nancy! Good idea.
I certainly agree with Nancy Turner - try a test area first. However, I would add that brown paper bags are pretty heavy paper to be working with and I think you might need to soak it in water before applying. This will help you get smoother edges and make it more mold-able (is that a word?) to the form. Also, this is a rather large piece and I'm certain you will use lots and lots of Mod Podge. Might I suggest you also try my "Mom Podge" recipe for a test area. I think you will be pleased. By all means report back to us how it goes.

By the way, if the brown paper bag==>cork doesn't seem to work out then try my slurry recipe and cover with a light weight fabric first, then apply your BPB w/Mom-podge. This stuff sticks to anything but plastic. I'm working on my fourth project using this slurry.

Oh, what the heck! After you've done all that checking might just as well check out my small version of the body form.

Please excuse the self-promotional commercial. However, I can see so many possibilities and I don't want you to get discouraged if one fails. I love working with body forms and you have a great idea for your starting point.
