There are many different styles of string lights and rope lighting. Look at all of them. I'm sure you will find something she likes, then attache them with double sided tape around the edge of the mirror.
I'm thinking maybe fairy lights would work around the mirror. Just don't get the brighter lights because those would be too bright And hurt your daughters eyes. You could probably mount them with a little hot glue.
you can use decorative outdoor string lights.
I like the rope light suggestion the best. The white would provide light but not be too bright. You could also use more than one string in different colors so your daughter could use it for ambient light when she is not putting on makeup. Just label the rope down by the plug so she knows which one she is plugging in.
Place a shelf over the mirror and here's an idea or a wooden arch with bulb lights
home Depot has stock on lights that you just push to turn on. it looks really pretty placed in a ring around the mirror like a movie stars mirror
