How can I decoupage with cardstock?

Is it even possible? It's lightweight cardboard. I haven't tried soaking it in water yet, just cause I didn't want to waste the pretty patterned paper in case it didn't work. Has anyone tried that? I want to decoupage on a sturdy wood surface. Thanks!

Yes it will work. Just take your time. I would mod podge the surface, apply your paper, mod podge over carefully. Do a test patch somewhere, as I have used peel and stick wax paper and non stick aluminum foil when mod podge is "tacky" and set a heavy book, brick or cast iron fry pan to set on top.
