How can I disguise or decorate a recessed soap dish?

There are 2 recessed soap dishes in the wall above my bathroom vanity. They are only large enough to hold one bar of soap each. I can't remove them since I live in an apartment. They are in excellent condition but I hate staring at 2 empty niches.

Small painted canvases, but what about making nite-lights out of them? You can get small battery operated lights or maybe those battery operated fairy lights. They can act as nite-lights also. They sell some that stay on for 4 or 6 hours.

Low light loving plants can do well especially with the humidity created in bath rooms. Maybe votive candles would add some ambiance.

I would put a potted tropical plant in each one. The tropical plants love all that moisture and steam.
