what i did with mine when we no longer need it but was a perminate part of our batroom in the brush holder i put plasic flower arrangement tiny on the soap dish i glued a floral spunge to the bottom and put matching floal in it
This is one of those things that trying to make it in to something else , can make it look worse. Just put a fancy bar of soap in the dish. I use my toothbrush holder but found little plastic covers that are made to go over the toothbrushes.
Easiest might be one of the vibratory sonic-style saws. They were invented for removing plaster casts. There are a great many styles of tips/saws/scrapers. You can use a chisel and hammer to tap/break the grout and then cement under the piece. Unlikely that it will survive without breaking.
Then smooth out the area with the chisel and apply new thin-coat or cement or wall caulk and apply new tile. Good luck matching old tile!
If you try to break them off the wall, you will have a retiring and wall repair job to do. Plus it is unlikely you can match the old tiles. New tiles will not have faded or discolored like the original may have. 😇💖
if you are not removing them ( which I wouldn't) but are trying to use them for something other than what they are for, here is a few things that came to me. (keep in mind that I've been up since 4am and with a fever : / )
okay so toothbrush holder idea: if you can find a led motion sensor night light that will sit into the 'center cup holder (assuming it has one), or find a way to make it fit. or if it has a cut out for a cup to sit down into, and there is room , you could buy the tiny tile pieces that are premade for pendants, or tiny piece for wind chimes in nice colors, or paint or decorate them another way. use one,2 or more, whatever looks right and hang them with, maybe jewelry wire since it is flexible. ( itty bitty, tiny art piece) I know its an eclectic idea that may not work with your decor, and some may think its stupid, but I like to try different things. The soap dish? I like the idea of a nice soap sitting in the dish. There are so many options. Nicely wrapped, wrap it yourself with lace, fabric or decoupage with a mid century photo. Or find a small bathtub knick knack and set it inside the soap holder. Other than these ideas, get some cool toothbrushes ( and brush top covers for sanitary reasons, you can paint them with suitable medium, or let kids bedazzle them) I would only use a cup, plain or jazzed up, to hold a tube of toothpaste. Good luck!
being that I was painting my tile anyway I removed them. it takes a little effort but it can be done.
I made into a shelf placing a light piece of wood painted white across the top of the toothbrush and soap holders.
