You could build floating wooden box shelves!
You can stencil it, wallpaper it or paint an accent color and use this as your art wall.
I took some favorite photos for this client and brought them to staples and had them blown up on non photo paper ( i do not recall the paper type but something like contractor paper) just ask for the least expensive one they have. I then cut them to the size i wanted and hung them using fancy tacks. That whole upper wall cost $30.00 and came out stunning.
