Cut a 1/2" piece of plywood at least a half inch in both directions the size of the top of your cedar chest. Glue a,3" thick piece of foam to it. Trim the top edges of foam with a scissors to round it off. Wrap with your fabric and staple to bottom of plywood. Screw on your new seat cushion to the top of the cedar chest.
