Hi Renae! I have listed below some very helpful information for your project. Good luck!
Cut a 1/2" piece of plywood at least a half inch in both directions the size of the top of your cedar chest. Glue a,3" thick piece of foam to it. Trim the top edges of foam with a scissors to round it off. Wrap with your fabric and staple to bottom of plywood. Screw on your new seat cushion to the top of the cedar chest.
Buy foam cut to shape make a cover use Velcro to keep it still
