Why can't you remove it and save it for when you move to put back? light fixtures are relatively inexpensive and you can take the new one with you when you move.

I replaced mine in my last apartment, its only 2 screws and wires to change out, saved the old one in a cardboard box and gave it to manager when I moved out.
