How do I make a hand-tied yarn blanket?

Cut the fabric whatever length you want your blanket to be. Cut a 6 inch square out of all 4 corners. Then cut strips 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide all the way around and put a knot in the end of each one closet to the fabric and you are done. You can buy templets to help if you are worried about cutting straight and with those you can use a rotary cutter. I use 1 and 1/2 yard for a baby blanket or lap blanket and 2 yards or more for a youth or adult blanket.

Go to your Fabric or yarn store and ask for loopy yarn it's done with your fingers no needles required. Or you can buy a hand tie kit and just tie the ends together you can ask them about this too. Available in all craft shops.
