How can I cut a Silpat, non-stick baking mat?




how.. I have a SILPAT that is too large. Can it be cut and not be ruined?

It voids their warranty (and I didn't know it had a warranty until I looked it up). However people say it comes in large rolls and is cut in smaller pieces all the time without issue. Another person recommends not to use it in heat higher than 425 degrees.
From what I've been reading and researching, it sounds like the answer is no it'll start coming apart :( Sorry

Depends on the BRAND -- some say DO NOT CUT, others, it's okay to cut to fit ( but you should never use sharp instruments to cut FOOD on either type) IF it's a SILPAT by brand name, NO you should not alter the size ( it will come unwoven and the fiberglass particles could get into your food) but the TSP brand is OKAY to cut to fit.
