Glueing your wood frame on with liquid nails seems to make everyone happy with the end product too if you do not wish to use nails or screws.
It looks as if you can mount the frame above and to the right of the mirror. If the base is sitting behind behind the faucet, that amount of mounting ought to hold the frame securely. Another idea would be to mount top and right, but glue the left and bottom on top of the mirror. Or you could glue all four sides of the frame onto the mirror. 😇
You can use trim molding to make the big frame. An easy way to finish the corners is to add rosettes in the corners. My husband used them when he made a door opening in our old house. They eliminate the need to make exact mitered corners. Hope this helps you.
