How to make curtains and a dresser runner from a flat sheet

I am decorating my daughters bedroom. I have flat sheets that she never uses. I thought I could make a runner for her dresser, and some curtains

Add some decorative touches to jazz them up.... such as ribbon on the leading edge, a self valance from another fabric or the same with some trim.... I made balloon valances from sheets for our first house.... they turned out really cute. You could also hang them in an interesting way.... use knobs, a tree branch..... something that'll personalize it for your daughter.
