You could create a design around the edge of the mirror using a stencil and etching compound. Both can be purchased at Hobby Lobby. The etching compound will dry an opaque white - very understated. I had a mirror with a vine etched around all four sides and a nest of birds in the lower corner that was lovely. Just don't obstruct the center 'viewing area' of the mirror because you cannot see through the compound once it is dry. It you don't want to be able to see your reflection, a nice etched quote on the mirror surface would be pretty.
