Lamp makeover-remove raised painted flowers

Question

I love the shape and size of this lamp, but the colors and flowers are just NOT doing it for me. I'm not sure if its some sort of applique or just paint. It has texture and its even scratched off in one spot. I've tried acetone, paint remover, and even a hair dryer😁. Any suggestions?

You could paint it with chalk paint. You can always mosaic it with broken china pieces. What about wrapping it with string or rope? Have fun redesigning it. Creina

chalk paint will cover it and still leave the texture of the flowers which to my eye would be beautiful

I would paint it and then decoupage a pretty paper onto the front

Your lamp looks like a antique Sell it and buy a new one. People collect these.

I would try a textured spray paint.

Looks like a 1970's 'Gone With the Wind' knock-off. Chalk paint and then decoupage with the top layer only of party napkins that match your room décor. I sure like the shape of that lamp but it won't fit with my modern livingroom :(

Leave it alone. Sell it and look for a lamp that you really want. Paint on antique glass . . .yuk! Pretty soon 'chalk paint' will have run it's course and no one will want it.

I'd check value and age before altering it. If you can't get the paint off, you could make a
Fabric tube with elastic ends that would slip off and on at will. This is to fit over the ginger
Jar middle. This is actually a pretty lamp, just dated!

I had a lamp with out- of- date flowers that I found out I could just scratch off with my fingernail. It was time consuming but easy once started.

Hello,

This looks like a Victorian Lamp, You may be better off trying to sell it and buying yourself a new lamp that would be more to your taste, or otherwise using Acrylic artist paints to try to change the colour of the flowers to your decor taste.

Paint over with spray on porcelain paint.

Use a razor blade to take the flowers off hold the blade flat but grab the flowers at the same time.
