Homemade Mod Podge Recipe. To make a jar of fake / homemade Mod Podge you need 1 cup of glue and 1/3 cup of water. These proportions are perfect – don't mess with them. Other internet recipes for homemade Mod Podge abound but they are TOO WEAK.
Mod Podge is basically just white school glue and water. I use it 1/2 and 1/2.

I have covered about 125 vases; many for gifts. I simply use the cheapest school glue, and it works perfectly. If you buy Elmers glue, add a little water.
