This is what happened
That is weird, I would try a name brand mold such as THIS Wilton mold that you can get off of Amazon that is oven safe. Or, you could melt the glue sticks in a glass pyrex bowl first in the microwave and then pour it into the heart shape mold and let it cool.
Just looked at the video. Said to put it in a 350 degree oven for 5 to 10 minutes checking every minute until they're melted. Maybe you kept yours in too long. Funny how she says 350 degree oven and the instructions say 375. They never do show the bloopers. How many attempts before she got it right.

Write the show and mention what happened. Maybe they have a reason or solution. Include your photo. You might get a replacement mold from them. Keep us informed.
Mod Podge makes special moulds just for this. They are tiny, so they work well. YOu can also fill moulds with stuff like resin and paper clay.
