Attaching retail style pegboard shelves to the wall.

To attach in the channel you will need hardware. Namely: 3/4 inch to 1 and 1/4 brackets. You will need to mount those with the bracket inward to ne save, and also need to drill through the metal frame to mount those brackets.

It is such a pain, after all tht expense on 8 brackets with bolts and anchors for the wall, to then have 8 brackets visible too, your end result is

A. you say:

I shoulda made a frame to hide the ugly brackets in the first place to make it more easily mount to the wall, safely with anchors

B. You don't say A, and it falls off the wall mount, or shelf and hurts somebody.

As neither of A nor B are desired results you should instead:

I Mount the gondola or pegboard to a purchased frame.

Then Mount the frame to the studs.

Or

II build a wood frame out of 2×4s around the metal, slightly larger in the rear but smaller in the front, sort of as fireplaces or chalkboards do, to hang that wood frame instead, so the entire gondola inserts inside only through the back of the wood frame, but cannot fall out of the front

Or

III Get the proper mounting hardware for Gondolas, to rather than makeshift around the fact hardware was missing on purchase, you do ig right once rather than wrong 12 times and over and over again

My opinion is option III works and looks the best, plus it is the most safe option.

Is this going to allow me to use the shelves that attach in the channels?
