I have done this and it isn't fun. Use a wallpaper tiger to score through the paint and wallpaper. Then use wallpaper remover solution (or make your own-there are lots of recipes online.) Be sure to put down a drop cloth to protect your floors. Spray an area and let it soak for the time the solution recommends then use a putty knife to scrape the wallpaper off-which will remove the paint on top. Make sure that you have scored through the wallpaper or the solution won't be able to get through. This is very time and effort consuming, but doable with patience. Depending on how your wallpaper was glued to the wall, you may have to repair damaged sheetrock from removing the wallpaper. (I have experienced everything I'm telling you.) I am not trying to discourage you, I just want to make sure you understand that you are probably taking on a labor intensive job, but if you are willing to put in the effort, you can have a beautiful result.

When we did this project at my parents’ home years ago, we rented a steamer. We steamed sections, and then used scrapers to get down to the plaster. It was a lot of work....

    Dianne,

If you can find an edge, start peeling and then peel as much as you can. Use a paper tiger to score the areas that it will work on and spray all edges and score marks with water. Allow to soak a little and peel what you can. Repeat over and over until it’s all gone. You will swear to never put paper in your wall again. Then you will see the most perfect wall paper.....

    We all do it😊

    I hope that helps
