How do I install shiplap over a cinderblock wall?

I have an interior basement wall I want to cover with shiplap boards. What is the best way to do so?

By using #6 Concrete, self-tapping screws. A good nail gun might work, but I'm doubtful

If you do not want to drill into the cinder block wall you could make a frame studded wall against it and attach it to the cinder block securely and then attach your shiplap. The frame would not have to be as thick as a normal 2x4 studded wall unless you are planning to add a lot of weight to the wall. I would check with the guys at your local Home Depot or Lowes, etc to get the best way to anchor the wall to the cinder block and recommendations for what you plan for wall as to thickness of the studs.

You might try power grab adhesive. We used it to hold landscaping blocks together, same material as block, and it’s held for over 8 years. You could try 2 or 3 pieces to see.

If the wall is fairly straight you can use construction adhesive and install 1x2's. Framing out the wall 16" on center. Then mount whatever you want. If you have to install electrical outlets, of course it's easy before the planking.
