What is the best way to fix a crown molding joint that has separated?
The separation occurred in the middle of the room (long run).
Start by using a sharp utility knife to cut through the layer of paint where the molding meets the wall.
Next, tap a thin pry bar or a putty knifebetween the molding and the wall.
Once the molding has been loosened from the wall, remove the pry bar / putty knife and drive in wood shims to widen the gap.
You should be able to pull it away at this point.
yes, but it should probably be removed .. are you sure it's 'real' wood and not MDF or fiberglass/plastic ?
No, Mrs. There really is not.
Especially the cornerpieces with the multifaceted Circle inside.
As these are more detailed than most Dentistry...
You need to soak those cornerpieces in a small plastic container with paint remover and brush off the bulk of the paint with an old toothbrush.
As Same applies to anything else which is Equally or More Intricately detailed than Dentures, the Toothbrush is indeed in any Handyman's Toolbox.
