The morrors were glued with blobs of glue. The only damage that may occur is where the blobs are and would be minimal.
Make sure to wear long sleeves, gloves, and protective eye wear. I have used a small flat bear to pry away. Even with taping, the mirror usually ends up breaking. I haven't figured out the trick to keeping it in one piece.
