Shiplap over wallpaper?

Thank you in advance for helping! Our upstairs bathroom has wallpaper from the 70’s, which could be cool but someone In our house has started peeling it off 
. My question is do I need to remove the rest of the wallpaper before using on of the amazing techniques Show here to apply budget friendly shiplap?

Great idea! I am a big fan of the tongue in groove paneling available at most big chain lumber stores. -
