After moving heavy furniture thru our kitchen, we made a long gash in our vinyl flooring. Is there a way to repair or conceal the long thin gash?

  • If glue down... Take scrap piece cut slightly larger than needed making sure any decoration is lined up the same - hold firmly down & cut section out as needed - scrape out old & glue in new. Due to UV light might be visible but should blend out over time Edge glued - get some glue under there ASAP as it will start pulling open - patching not really recommended Thick, non glued - you can try with special tape under the tear, patch like above (using tape) Almost all vinyl manufacturers also have a seam glue which might be good to apply after you are done - don't guess, make sure it is for that type of vinyl or you could get staining

There is if you have some of the leftover flooring from the initial installation . If not see if the have some at the place it was purchased . Take a piece slightly larger than the damaged area , line it up with the old floor if there is a pattern to it . Use a real sharp utility knife and cut through both pieces which should leave a new piece that you can put down in place of the damaged one . Add some glue and tap it into place and you should be good as new .
