I have to put a new floor in my veranda - even down to the floor joists - what is the best way to add new floor joists to older ones that are starting to rot? Do I try and get rid of the old ones and put the new in or do I just pony up the new ones to the old ones?

HI Peggy, Personally I would have a professional do this type of repair as it is structural. And also check in case you need to have a building permit to work on the veranda's structure. Good luck, you want the job to be safely done so it lasts for years to come.

You can NOT sister a new joist to an old rotten one .

you need to replace the old rotten joists with new ones . Do them one at a time
