Is it possible to shrink jute-backed wall-to-wall carpet in place?

Unable to stretch wrinkles out of my wall-to-wall carpeting because it requires moving too much heavy furniture. Can the jute backing be shrunk with steam, heat, or some chemical?

You an have a professional come in and re stretch your carpet. I doubt that you can shrink it.

Steam will only make your problem worse. Best to have it re-stretched or loosen the edge and pull yourself.
To really get the wrinkles out, you'll really want to move the furniture
