Sometimes getting them wet with the waterhose works.
Spray WD40 so it runs down between buckets. After a few minutes try to work the buckets apart...they should separate. Be generous with WD 40.
we had that problem also i took a kitchen butter knife and forced it in the edge between the 2 buckets and my husband pulled while i wiggled the knife around the edge it worked but took awhile
would you be able to get a little water in between them? Drizzle a little down, roll it around the sides, and see if they will slip apart.
Drizzle a little cooking oil in between them and they should slide right out.
if the buckets are not use for watering if you drill small holds at the bottom or side it lets air in and stops the vaccum that keeps them together.
