Hi Carol, The only way to know which to put down first is to have the pH level tested. I believe the best way would be to adjust the pH first and then put down your fertilizer. I don't think it would be good to drop one down on top of the other but that depends on your location and your soil condition.Helpful Reply -

Yes they can. They do two separate things so it won't hurt anything. The lime will make it easier for the roots to absorb the fertilizer.Helpful Reply -
