How do I remove mirrored backsplash in kitchen?

The apartment that I live in has a horrendous mirrored back splash in the kitchen that is attached with adhesive of some sort on the back. I want to remove it without getting glass shards all over my kitchen and without taking the drywall off behind it. Any ideas?

I did this before, put cheap Dollar Store MacTac paper on the mirrors and used a scraper to get it off. At times I had to use a chisel and hmmer to get through the glue. It did work without and glass everywhere. Be careful when discarding, I put mine in a cardboard box and labelled it in large letters for the garbage men.

Hello Marsharie, hope this helps you out, start by putting frog tape or some other adhesive over thw glass surface of the mirror, then gently slide a 3-inch or wider metal putty knife behind the backsplash to loosen the glue as much as possible, tapping it lightly with a hammer while sliding all the way to the bottom. Finally, remove the backsplash completely by using a pry bar for leverage if needed.
