1. Get rid of or store anything you don't use on a regular basis.

2. If the cabinet doors are in poor shape, then take them off.

3. Paint the frames and the insides of the cabinets.

4. Paint the walls a very pale yellow. It's a happy color and will make you feel good.

5. Use battery operated puck lights (Wayfair has these and they're remote controlled). and put them up under the walls cabinets to increase your lighting. Adding additional lighting will again increase a happy mood.

6. Use sandstone spray paint on your countertops. Tape and cover everything so you don't do any overspray. Then use clear glass cutting boards on your counters.

are the cabinets so bad you can't paint them? Change the handles. Could you glue framed pictures centered on each cabinet door to call attention away from the cabinet itself. Don't use knobs. Cabinets will open without knobs. Plug in strind lights on the floor under the cabinets or under the rob cabinets. I had so many cabinets I put two together with a piece of decorative laminent on top for an island.

Paint and paint are the two ways to make a kitchen look better. Luan which is a 1/4 inch thin plywood with a sanded side can be used to update your cabinets. If you take the cabinet door sizes to the lumber yard, they may be able to cut to the size you need. I am lucky enough to have Spahn and Rose in my town that will cut any sizes I need. Take the sheets of plywood, glue on the surface of the cupboard, tiny nail them, sand the edges, prime and paint. I changed my ugly doors into a shaker style with 3"slats cut from luan and they are now updated. The counter tops can be painted with paint with Rustoleum or other companies that do it.
