I believe there is a you tube video with just that topic! Several years ago, my daughter and son in law purchased a home from the 1950s the kitchen cabinets were original to the home! But they were just plywood box’s with a flat panel plywood door. We removed the doors and purchased 1inch think and 2 in wide strips of wood. Measuring twice cutting once, we used brads and wood glue attaching the longest piece to each edge, with the shorter piece between them on the top and bottom of each door. after they were dry, used some wood putty, filled the nail holes, and any gaps between the boards and the original doors (let’s face it,after 60 years, they were a bit wonky). Sanded, primed, painted! They actually turned out fairly nice. i had no you tube or instructions so I was flying by the seat of my pants.
But new home owners, sometimes can’t go in and replace everything, because the costs add up, this was a great fix 6 years ago and funny thing, they still look pretty darn good.
