We have a low voltage wire around our garden that gives rabbits, groundhogs, etc a little buzz if they try to cross it. It has about the same voltage as an electric fence for a dog. Needless t say, they stay away after the first time! It isn't enough voltage to hurt a child or anyone else.
I buy garlic clips from Gardener's Supply. 20 in a pack 1 per plant. Keeps the
deer away too. Wear gloves or you will smell like garlic for awhile.
Use human or pet hair and spread it around your garden. You can use what you get out of your brush or sometimes salons will give you some. Also if you have a cat, sprinkle used litter around your garden. I know that sounds gross but it works too.
