Concrete seems to be the best thing to use. We have some asphalt drives around town but the concrete is the most aesthetically pleasing. I need to be done by someone with a good reputation for doing them so that it won't crack. it may be expensive but it will last forever and is very low maintenance
I have a Macadam driveway and a concrete carport, which is now used as a porch. If you hire a good contractor who uses good materials, the work should last for years.
Just remember to have the driveway sealed every few years and do not park a vehicle on the concrete if it snows in your area as road salt will corrode and ruin it.
The cost is considerable but worth it if you want to stay in your house for many yrs. to come.
