What can I put under a bird feeder so it doesn't look messy?

The birds scatter the bark and bird seed and the area is on a slight slope. I can't move the feeder because there's a hedge just to the right of the picture. Any suggestions?

Plant flowers or herbs around the base.

You can put solid blocks under, this makes it easier to sweep the mess, or make a catcher for the seed

No solution available on this one...birds are like kids...they are naturally messy! LOL

They scratch at the ground and then spit seed hulls in every direction!!!

spread a good layer of pea gravel around the base?

I’m not sure I’d use pea gravel, because it can get caught in dog paws and every little indent in sneakers, wrecking flooring in the house. It also tends to stray.

I don’t know if you can find smaller river rock, making a decorative circle around the base of your feeder, or even a conical pile like the cover.

The debris would at least blend in better. And if the stones are larger, you could vacuum with your shop vac.

Never seen a catcher before -- that's great! Thanks!
