Can I paint over cabinets finished in veneer?

The skin is brittle and flakes off easily in spots.

The easiest way to do that Lulu is with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. There is no priming or sanding prep involved. The cabinets need to be cleaned well to remove all grease, then start painting. You will need to seal the paint with either a wax or topcoat.

Yes you can but you need to sand them.

You can with chalk paint as Homeroad stated above. Go to the Lowe's website, and they have a video tutorial. You can indeed make your own chalk paint, which works well.

I have painted over veneer with chalk paint mixed by myself, Its more affordable that way ,its has stayed on beautifully. but sanding first never hurts.
