Outdoor paint is important to use as it can withstand the weather elements, such as rain, snow and sunshine, which can warp and destroy the wood surface.

Step 5

Allow the freshly painted dining table to dry for 48 hours before using.

You can do it but you will need to be very very careful about keeping it covered when not in use. The rain and sun will break down the glue in the veneer and ruin it.

Personally, I wouldn't use a wood veneer table outdoors. Eventually, the elements will ruin it.

Hello. If it’s the type of veneer furniture that I’m familiar with usually the veneer is on a composite or a weaker type of wood. I cannot recommend using it outside unless it is covered up completely between uses. Wood can tend to mold easily in the presence of moisture.

The best you could hope for is numerous coats of polyurethane, covering all edges well. Veneer is made for indoors. You may have luck with at least 4 layers.

You can sand and paint the table with a marine type paint that will resist all outdoor environmental issues. OR, you can paint and then use a clear marine-type sealer on the table after it's been painted or decoupaged. Have fun!

If it is solid wood, you should be good. If it is a particle or veneer construction, it will fall apart. Paint as if you were painting the exterior of a house with a primer and 2 coats exterior paint. You can also coat with marine varnish for a durable finish.

Veneer isn't really an outdoor item. I have done that in the past and don't waste your time it doesn't work well.

Vaneer top table is not meant to go outside because the vaneer will eventually lift whatever you paint on it!. If you want it to stay outside for the season, then cover it with Oilcloth Tablecloth.
