Did you spray paint mirror or brushed on chalkboard paint?

I Also have an old dresser mirror that I want to repurpose as a chalkboard. Which did you paint first the mirror or frame? I'm thinking about using a chalkboard spray paint. What are your thoughts? Thanks Hilda
