How can I "outdoor weatherproof" an old buffet table/cabinet?

A friend gave me a buffet table with drawers and cupboards. I would like to turn it into an outdoor bar. Do I need to weather proof it? I live in a hot/humid and then of course rainy area.

Seal it with marine grade spar varnish or urethane. -

Yup, William is right. Marine grade varnish will do the trick -

If that is a wood top, I would be very tempted to use at least 5 very thin coats.The top gets the most abuse, and the rain will likely puddle on it a bit.
