How do I remove the legs from an old cabinet so I can replace them??
I removed the old casters from the legs, but want to replace them altogether with taller legs (without casters). I can't figure out how to get the legs off. Any advice?

Can you tell how they are held on? Is it wood glue? If so, knock it with a hammer and see if you can loosen them up to get them off. Or try twisting them? Check to see if they were screwed on?

Looks like the table legs are held in place by wood pins, you could drill them out, but that would create holes to be filled. At this point you could cut them off and replace with legs you prefer. Or add legs to the short legs that are already installed.
Unscrew the screws in the small wood blocks on the underside by the legs and they legs should come out. One screw holds the block to the apron and the other the legs.
Look inside the cabinet to see if they are bolted or screwed on from the inside. If not, I would cut them off with a hacksaw.
Hello. Using a wrench might help unscrew the legs from the block. If not perhaps using a saw or oscillation tool might be removal tools to consider. Good luck- hope this helps!
I would see if they will unscrew by twisting to the left. If they are glued on, I would use a 6" pry bar and a wood block to jimmy them off by circling around where they meet the rectangular block that looks to be part of the apron design, or you could use a jig saw to remove them,.
Hello,
They were probably screwed on and stuck in place, so you may have to Saw them off.
Good luck!
They should just twist off. It may take a little extra elbow grease to get if off if the paint dried over it.
They should be able to screw off. I would assume there is a screw in them
Hi Erika, they should be held in place with a screw and you should be able to twist them off. If they are not moving, they may be stuck due to paint or clear coat sealing the edges. You can run a putty knife or blade around the top of them and try to unseal anything that might be holding them in place and then try to unscrew them.
They are either screwed into the blocks or carved into them. You should be able to turn counter clockwise to remove them but if they aren't budging, purchase a vibratory saw (around $25 from harbor freight) and cut them. You can fit the edge of the blade between the leg and the block. Cut all the way around and chip off.
The legs should just screw out, But in this case may be attached to that block of wood. Look inside the cabinet and see if you can find any screws.
Usually these screw off. If they will not, you may need to cut them off flush.
They probably just screw on at the base in most furniture. Lefty loosie.
Hi! I also think they should unscrew. However, sometimes it is hard to get things off that have been on a long time. Try loosening it with WD40 or an adjustable wrench. Good luck!
Is there a screw from the bottom?
If they don't just turn off I would cut them off but they should just turn.
It should twist off. If not, the circles pop out to reveal the screws which hold it in place.
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions! They ended up being glued on. I had to saw them off, but it worked!
Try twisting them.
i dont think it is doable without taking apart whole piece .. just cut them and add new ones if you dont like the ones are on it
