Spray paint it with Rustoleums 2x for Metal.
I agree with Janet. I have used Rustoleum spray brass paint or any other Rustoleum spray paint from Home Depot. It works great and covers really well. You may have to spray two light coats, but it looks great afterwards. I hope this helps.
Rustoeleum is the way to go. I have used it for a lot of projects. With any spray paint a couple of light coats is best.
I have done this before - take off the glass or whatever the top is - spray paint for metal.
