I am repainting a table. Do I need to paint the underside?

The top of the table is stained ad dark color and is pine. Some drips are on the underside from the gel stain. The underside is also pine, but not finished and not painted.

@Lucky Dog Upcycle the decision to paint the underside is dependant upon a couple of things. One is preference - is it going to bug you that it isn't finished? Even some of the new furniture doesn't have finished under sides. Two - where will it sit in relation to other living areas around it - if it will be in a raised dining area where the underside will be seen, you may want to put a quick dark coat on it. Hope this helps.

If you want, you can If you don't want to you don't have too, but if it is for resale, the finish will effect the price you get!

Not really necessary to stain the underside unless it will be seen from a point in the room.

  • It's not necessary, but it will give it a more professional look.
