Distress shows several layers of paint and/or dents and dings. I hope you're not going to ding it because that type of furniture is impossible to find now.
1.If you want to faux distress, paint the piece about 2 or 3 different layers of colors.
2.You will then want to sand in areas of typical wear - around the top, on the edges of the legs and side corners; top and bottom of drawers.
3. In some of these areas you'll go down to 1 layer of paint, another two, next 3, next down to wood showing the other layers when you fan out the sanding.
4. If you use metal pulls or knobs, spray with color you want and quickly wipe some off thus showing wear.
Good luck.
Got it! Thank you

After some painting on a sample, try a rolled up piece of cotton or, better yet, a piece of wool. . . .While the paint is still soft roll the roll of cloth over the paint for a well worn look. . . . . Try a sample first!!. . . .
