What type of paint is best to restore outdoor wicker furniture?

I found old outdoor wicker furniture that needs to be painted. One piece is a glider and the other is a tall-backed chair with curved "legs" that let you bounce in the chair. Both pieces have a rusted metal rim bordering the wicker. I would like to prevent any more rust and protect the wicker .

I actually used spray paint on wicker. It's held up well for me. They have a large array of colors and even textures.

Becky is absolutely right. Spray Paint. Just be sure to give it a good scrub first and let it dry out thoroughly. The hose, a soft brush and sunshine are all you need.

Clean first with white vinegar and water. Let completely dry and spray paint with OUDOOR spray paint for wicker furniture. I would seal it with an acrylic clear spray paint.

I use spray paint by Rust_Oleum with pain and primer in one. It coats well and looks great. It costs about $7 a can, but well worth it.

@Sandra Levy I use this too- also at Lowes they have an Outdoor Valspar spray paint and primer in one for outdoors-wood/plastic/metal/rust proof-it's a little cheaper-$4-5 a can- works good!!!

My sister and I painted her wicker with rust oleum spray paint and that was 2yrs ago and it's still nice, she has a covered porch though so that might help.
