Can I paint indoor outdoor carpet?

Sure I CAN paint. But can indoor outdoor carpet be painted? We have a very inviting lovely balcony off of our master bedroom. I love sitting up there and having morning coffee or evening tea with my hubby. Ive picked up and re-loved some nice furniture pieces and added lots of candles and made it oh so cozy! BUT, and thats a big ol BUT... the indoor outdoor carpet is in need of something. Most of it is perfect. Its very low and a light color. One end is all stained up. I have cleaned it, it cleans easily, but that one end is ugly, those old stains will not come up!It is not waterproof, I considered rugs, or ripping it up. I would just really like to change the color, all one color.

I think it would be less hassle and have a better overall look and 'feel' if you just purchased a new one. If you can't rip it up and place it down yourself, just have them do the install.

Now with all the summer clearance sales you should try to pick up either a new indoor/outdoor rug or a sisal indoor/outdoor rug. They have pretty designs & even colors- Ive seen a 5x7 one for under $10 the other day in Lowes or Home Depot, theres various sizes & you can cut the thinner ones to fit just as well. Good Luck.

I did, by accident...oil paint. Cleaned it up with mineral spirits, the carpet "bubbled up" and we had to replace it :( so I would agree, replace it....

I spilled latex. Couldn't clean it all up. Painted over the entire carpet and it dried hard and solid easy to sweep and vacuum. Giving it another coat this winter.
